At Temple Sinai Religious School, our concern is more than just teaching about Judaism; our concern is with the shaping of Jewish souls. We provide rich Jewish educational experiences to more than 150 children and their families, ranging from Kindergarten through seventh grade. Our full-time educator, Amy Ritell, and faculty offer a wide host of classes (grades K-7) and Monday/Wednesday afternoons (Grades 4-7). Following Bar/Bat Mitzvah and graduation, our students are strongly encouraged to continue their Jewish studies at Tichon Sinai high school program while maintaining their connections with Temple Sinai through membership in SoSTY, (Sinai of Stamford Temple Youth) and working as madrichim (teacher aides) in the Religious School.

B'nai Mitzvah Training

The B'nai Mitzvah is one of many high points in a Jewish child's life, the marking of a most significant milestone. At Temple Sinai, the Bar/Bat Mitzvah is a family experience from the first steps of receiving the date to sharing the bima together as a family on the day of the Bar/Bat Mitzvah. Our program includes training and teaching with Rabbi Jay TelRav, Scott Newman, and Cantor Micah Morgovsky. In addition to their Religious School and Hebrew School studies, every student receives individual lessons beginning approximately six months prior to the Bar/Bat Mitzvah date. Each student does a Mitzvah project and prepares a D'var Torah for the day of the celebration. In addition, families are expected to participate in family education programming during the 7^th grade year, and 7^th grade students go on a retreat to Camp Eisner in Great Barrington, Massachusetts, in September. It is the hope of Temple Sinai that a positive and relaxed program has been created which emphasizes the meaning of family and the meaning of the Bar/Bat Mitzvah itself.

SoSTY

SoSTY (Sinai of Stamford Temple Youth) Senior Youth Group

SoSTY is a member of the North American Federation of Temple Youth (NFTY) whose mission is to instill Jewish identity, to increase synagogue participation among high school youth, to encourage long-term commitment to the ideals of Reform Judaism and to shape the Reform Jewish congregations of the future. SoSTY hopes to live up to these goals and values, and to make Temple Sinai a second home for Jewish teens in Stamford and surrounding areas.

SoSTY includes 8^th through 12^th graders in a wide variety of programs.

SoSTY programs include:

1. Social interaction of Jewish teens

2. Social justice and Tikkun Olam

3. Leadership opportunities for teens

RUJU

RuJu (Temple Sinai's affectionate term for “Ruach Junior”) is a children's musical ensemble for religious school students in third grade through sixth grade. These students, under the direction of Cantor Micah Morgovsky, meet weekly on Sunday mornings to prepare for their monthly appearance at the grade Shabbatot. RuJu's goals include making beautiful music and learning about Jewish prayer but, most importantly, the members of RuJu enjoy being part of a musical community of children, singing together and enjoying their Judaism through music.

Rehearsals, Sundays from 11:30am - 12:30pm, see Cantor for schedule of dates.

Learn and perform songs of our Shabbat services, holiday favorites and more. Develop musical and vocal skills and become comfortable on the bima and stage.

Sing for the Grade Shabbat services, as well as occasional holidays and family services. This is a great way for children to feel at home in the synagogue and gain confidence in their prayer-leading abilities.
